Carmen Leggio

We just got some very sad news. Carmen Leggio, Tenor Sax player for over 60 years and a dear friend to our family, has passed away. He was still playing at night clubs and other venues up until the time he passed away. He was such a sweet, humble person yet had this huge talent to play Jazz sax and the clarinet. He was kind enough to come to our house and play for our daughter's 4th birthday. When we went to the local restaurant Division Street Grill in Peekskill NY, he played a special solo just for our kids. He has played with some heavy hitters on tthe Jazz scene like Dizzy Gillespie, Buddy Rich, and Benny Goodman to name a few. He shared his talent wherever he went and brought such joy and kindness to all he touched. He will be missed by his friends, family, fans and the community as a whole. Rest in peace, Carmen Leggio. We love you.

The Martha Show Audience

Happy Spring!
I am so psyched! I was in the audience at the Martha Show yesterday and it was a special craft show with none other
then Rosie O'Donnell. The "Whatever Martha" girls were there
(Alexis and Jennifer) and they were all very funny together.

We had fantastic seats right up on the floor with Martha and the guests. Rosie O'Donnell came over and looked at my mosaics (she held this cross I brought to the show) and chit chatted with me and my sister and mother. She is such a warm, fun loving person. My sister thought I was going to fall over dead from all the excitement. What a blast it was! We came home with bags and bags of giveaways.
If you ever get the chance to go to the show, do it. The set is beautiful, Martha is very gracious to her audience and it is so worth the effort!

I found this poetry from a websight dedicated to the late John O'Donohue, Irish poet

I love his work and thought I would share this blessing with you all before our Thanksgiving feast.

Grace Before Meals
As we begin this meal with grace,
Let us become aware of the memory
Carried inside the food before us:
The quiver of the seed
Awakening in the earth,
Unfolding in a trust of roots
And slender stems of growth,
On its voyage toward harvest,
The kiss of rain and surge of sun;
The innocence of animal soul
That never spoke a word,
Nourished by the earth
To become today our food;
The work of all the strangers
Whose hands prepared it,
The privilege of wealth and health
That enables us to feast and celebrate.
Grace After Meals
We end this meal with grace
For the joy and nourishment of food,
The slowed time away from the world
To come into presence with each other
And sense the subtle lives behind our faces,
The different colors of our voices,
The edges of hungers we keep private,
The circle of love that unites us.
We pray the wise spirit who keeps us
To change the structures that make others hunger
And that after such grace we might now go forth
And impart dignity wherever we partake.

Welcome to my Blog

I did it! I have been talking about getting my own blog started for the last year now. And now it's done. Feels good to get started. I am really excited about this holiday season and having a shop up and running to be a part of the whole scene. This has been a long time dream of mine to start my own business and allow myself to try to make it doing what I love to do. When it came to paying the bills, I never thought that was possible. I'm beginning to believe differently. This me and my husband on our wedding day 8 years ago. Marrying him was the beginning of better choices I made for myself. Since then we have had two kids plus his three from a previous relationship. Life changed considerably for me when we got together.
